Car leasing (Personal Contract Hire or PCH) is essentially a long-term rental. You pay a fixed monthly amount for an agreed period β typically 24 to 48 months β at an agreed annual mileage. At the end, you simply hand the car back. You never own the vehicle, which is why monthly payments are considerably lower than finance or hire purchase options.
The monthly payment covers your use of the vehicle for the agreed term and mileage. It does not typically include insurance, fuel, servicing, or tyres β those remain your responsibility. Road tax (VED) is usually included for the lease duration. Some manufacturers offer maintenance packages as an optional add-on.
Leasing involves a credit check with the finance company. A poor credit history can make approval more difficult, but it doesn't automatically rule you out. We work with a range of funders and can advise on the best route for your circumstances. Being upfront about your situation helps us find the right solution more quickly.
You return the car to the leasing company. Provided it's within the agreed mileage and in good condition (normal wear and tear is accepted), there are no additional charges. You can then lease a brand-new car β which most of our customers do β or simply walk away. No residual value risk, no part-exchange hassle.
No β you must arrange your own comprehensive car insurance before taking delivery. The car is registered to the lease company (the legal owner) but insured under your name. This is standard practice across all personal and business leasing in the UK. We're happy to point you towards reputable comparison sites if you need guidance.
